INTRODUCTION:

To our Administrative Pastor, Rev. Victor Magno, To the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Madam Carmen Chiong and members of the BOT, our Christian Education Deaconess, Dss. Lygen Tabucol, Our Teacher In Charge, Dss. Vernadhette Caslib, to our dear teachers and staffs, our supportive parents and guardians, and to our dear little Ones completers and graduates, good afternoon.

This afternoon, I am so grateful to have the chance to be with you all, as you celebrate this victorious event, the moving up and closing ceremony. Also, I am so thankful that I had a chance to meet some of you before this event, when I was in the school canteen with my parents, mama Sem and papa Sus.

Now, let’s have this sharing time and getting to know you session.

Just like you, I once was a pupil who studied here in Bolinao Christian School, I have my parents who accompanied me whenever I go to school, and met my teachers, classmates, friends and their parents.

BODY

Please allow me to share to you something that I have learn growing up.

It is about this verse in the Bible, Psalm 139:14a, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.”

Let me ask you what do you usually say when you are amazed with something, or when you see something is beautiful or even when you are surprised?

WOW let’s spell it out W-O-W and try to give an acronym and meaning of it.

W-WONDERFUL (can you say to yourself “I am wonderful”). It means that each of you children is amazing inside and outside. From head to toe and you all have a pure heart. Imagine when you share your amazing stories and ideas to your parents, classmates and friends.  And just being honest.

And that is why Jesus loves the little children, and Jesus loves you.

O-ORIGINAL (Say I am Original). Each of you is different from each other. Each of you is special. There is something that you can do that other can’t. And also, there is something that others can and have but you don’t. But it does not mean that one is greater that the other. It means that all of you are equal and each of you have special talents, skills, interests that you can contribute. And if you are all put together in one place, in a class, in a team, or just like this event. I see victory and success.  We see victory and success.

Lastly,

W- Worthy (Say I am Worthy). It means that you are all important and precious. You are worthy in this place, in this school, in your family, in the church, and in our community. So don’t be afraid to be you, and to share what you have and do what you can do.

Looking back, I’m just like you trying to do simple things like helping in school, valuing education and doing household chores and being kind to others and you can name other things. Doing that before and until now, it helps me grow. Also, I am amazed to see my classmates who are now working and helping their families and our community. Some of them are now teachers, engineers, nurses, police man, building their own family, serving in the church and many more.  Each of us has reached our dreams and the calling or our purpose in life. And everyone who is here is very proud of you and believing in you.

Dear little ones, let us take this opportunity to give a word of thanks to all the people who become part of who you are today.   Can you please repeat after me?

Thank you, God, for creating me wonderful.

Thank you, teachers, for teaching us.

Thank you (parents or guardian) for loving me and being there for me.

CONCLUSION

Remember the verse I shared a while ago “Psalm 139:14a, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

You are a W-O-W. (You are Wonderful, you are Original, you are Worthy)

Now say yourself (I am wonder, original and worthy)

(I am W-O-W)

And YES you are.

Thank you for listening, congratulations, and God bless.

Ngunit b...

BE AUTHENTIC

Whenever I write, I always consider the language I should use. Growing up in a colonized nation (the Philippines), it is kind of hard to have the so-called “originality”. From language, culture, songs, and clothing, just to name a few, almost all of it is influenced by nations that colonized us in the past. It is confusing to know who we really are as Filipinos. But what I realized now is that I should embrace the present and always be true to what I do and speak. As long as I do not forget to speak our native language (Filipino) and keep trying to use the dialects (Ilocano and Bolinao) I grew up with, even though I am not fluent and trying hard, I believe this will smooth out in its proper time. Maybe in the long run, you will notice that my output will be written in mixed language. Speaking out on this matter helps me to be more authentic. Based on my experience, there were times when I could easily express myself in English and sometimes in Filipino. The most important thing here is...
