God's Call and Our Response

Biblical Reference Mark 1:14-20     In what season of life are you right now? What have you been doing? If someone intervenes to you while you are doing something or you are in such a season of your life, would lend your ear and pay attention?          Read Mark 1:14-20 In the passage that we read, there is a place called Galilee where Jesus went and proclaimed the good news of God, for the time was fulfilled and there is a need to repent and believe in the good news for the Kingdom of God is near. What do you think are the Galileans doing when Jesus was proclaiming? The Galileans are doing their daily routine and their lifestyles and livelihoods. For example, fishing. In verse 16 says, “ Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother casting a net into the sea- for they were fishermen.” What is the relevance of this in our lives?   The message of our devotion today is that Jesus has a call to all the people while doing their personal things. And wh

Devotion The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:34-40 NRSV The Greatest Commandment 34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 35 and one of them, an expert in the law, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 37 He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Is it enough to just know? Is it enough to just know the greatest commandment? What is the greatest commandment? We should know the greatest commandment. And we should obey it as the LORD commands. In our text today, the beginning verse started with the Pharisees and the experts of the law gathered together. One of them questioned Jesus about the commandment. This one, who is a law expert, tried to test Jesus

Sermon Jesus the way to the Father in Heaven. It is achieved by surrendered life to Jesus

Scripture: John 14: 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Theme: Jesus the way to the Father in Heaven.   It is achieved by surrendered life to Jesus.   Introduction: Is there a time in your life that you ask yourself about what is it for that I am living? Or where I am going? Or what is the essence of my hardships? What’s next? These are just few of the questions that we have in mind. Full of “What” longing to know everything. Today I humbly share with you a Mighty One, who is the way, the truth, and the life. The answer to our questions. Body:                                                                Jesus is the way. Jesus as the way is leading as to the Father in heaven. However, the world has taught us many ways toward something else. Something that brought us away to the presence of the Father. Many ways that lead us to sin and causes them to fall. That is why many was and are still

Sermon Empowered by the Holy Spirit then live a life for God

THEME: Empowered by the Holy Spirit then live a life for God. Scripture: Act 2:17b 17 ‘In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,     and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 21Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’   17 ‘Ito ang gagawin ko sa mga huling araw,’ sabi ng Diyos, ‘Ibubuhos ko ang aking Espiritu sa lahat ng tao;     ipahahayag ng inyong mga anak na lalaki at babae ang aking mensahe. 21 At sinumang tumawag sa pangalan ng Panginoon ay maliligtas.’ INTRODUCTION: “I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.” This was our founder John Wesley said when He encountered God through the Holy Spirit. His encounter with the Holy Spirit empowered Him to keep His faith and serve God with all the means he can. We are t

Sermon- Being a living Testimony for Christ

Text: Matthew 5:16 NRSV In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Theme: Being a living Testimony for Christ Introduction: When a child does something either good or bad. The people will ask, who's his/her parents? (Sino kaya ang mga magulang nito?)   Because many people believe in the saying " what a tree is, so its fruit" (kung ano ang puno siya rin ang bunga). In relation to the message of God today, our life brings testimony of what we believe in and who we believe in. As Christians, we have a connection with God and we are God's ambassador in this world. God became the source of our lives. But how are we carrying the name of the Lord as we continue to live day to day? Body: Three point- Discussion ----Know that God is the source of light. Just like how a light brings brightness to a dark room, we can let God shine in the world. God is the reason why we are ab

Sermon Deuteronomy 34:1-12 Moses' Death

Biblical Reference: Deuteronomy 34:1-12 Focused on verses 7-9 7 Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died; his sight was unimpaired, and his vigor had not abated. 8 The Israelites wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the period of mourning for Moses was ended. 9 Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him, and the Israelites obeyed him, doing as the Lord had commanded Moses. 11 He was unequaled for all the signs and wonders that the Lord sent him to perform in the land of Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants and his entire land, 12 and for all the mighty deeds and all the terrifying displays of power that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel. Deuteronomy 34:1-12 talks about God's faithfulness, death of Moses and the succession of Joshua. Before the death of Moses, the LORD has allowed him to see the land that the LORD has promised to Abraham, to Isaac, and Jacob. But the LORD did

Sermon -The Family of God

Title: The Family of God Biblical Reference: Luke 15:11-32 Focus Verses on 15: 25-32             Luke 15:11-32 is known about the story of the Good Father and the Prodigal Son, but it is seldom heard in a sermon about the elder son in the story. For a quick background of the story, the father has two sons and the younger son asked his father to give him his inheritance. When the younger son received his inheritance, he decided to go away and spend his wealth to please himself. He experienced struggles being away and lost everything until he realized that he was wrong about his decision and decided to go back to his father, not as his son but as a slave. The father was very happy when he saw his younger son return. Because he was lost and now found. The father’s happiness is not limited to affirmation and forgiveness. The father even made a celebration and welcomed his son without condemnation. However, the reaction of the elder brother towards his younger brother was different

Christmas Sermon

Luke 2:8-20 The Shepherds and the Angels             “Joy to the world, the Lord is come!   Let earth receive her King! Let every heart prepare Him room and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven, and heaven and nature sing”. This song was written in 1719 by Isaac Watts, but the message of the song happened more than 2000 years ago. The Christmas season comes every year. But, due to its annual celebration, can you still sing Joy to the World like you never sung it before or can you still continue to prepare your heart and keep singing this joyful song of praise? Luke 2:8-20 made us see how good news was revealed to the Shepherds by the Angel and how the Angels and the Shepherds received this news. Joy to the World ,  the Lord is Come.   The shepherds received a message from an angel. At first, the shepherds were terrified because the glory of the Lord shone around them. What were the shepherds doing at that time? In verse 8 said the “shepherds living
