Sermon Jesus the way to the Father in Heaven. It is achieved by surrendered life to Jesus

Scripture: John 14: 6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Theme: Jesus the way to the Father in Heaven.  It is achieved by surrendered life to Jesus.

Introduction:

Is there a time in your life that you ask yourself about what is it for that I am living? Or where I am going? Or what is the essence of my hardships? What’s next? These are just few of the questions that we have in mind. Full of “What” longing to know everything. Today I humbly share with you a Mighty One, who is the way, the truth, and the life. The answer to our questions.

Body:

Jesus is the way. Jesus as the way is leading as to the Father in heaven. However, the world has taught us many ways toward something else. Something that brought us away to the presence of the Father. Many ways that lead us to sin and causes them to fall. That is why many was and are still lost. 1 Peter 2:8 and “A stone that makes them stumble and a rock that makes them fall. They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.” They do not know where they are going. For instance, even one of the disciples of Jesus ask how can he know the way. In verse 5 “Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” In this life, there are those who are hurt, ended their life, and lost their purpose. But the good news is that Jesus came to the world, taught the world about the Word of God and his promises, and most importantly, saved the world- to redeemed humanity from sin and unrighteousness and give us the assurance of eternal life with the Father. And this is the truth that God wants us to know.

Jesus is the truth.  John 8: 31-32 says “31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” The truth is to know God through the Word of God that was taught by our Lord Jesus Christ.  John 14: 10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.”  To know God and to be immersed on His Word is the truth that we need in this life. Truth is something that is true, valid, authentic, and eternal. Psalm 119:160 says, “All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.” God is true. The truth is meant to be known and believed. We need the truth of God to know the meaning of life. We need to know God to understand life.  Jesus is the way to that Truth.

Jesus is the life. Galatians 2:20 says “and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” The moment we knew about and believe in the gospel of truth that Jesus died for us and gives us the promise of eternal life, we have invited Jesus to enter our lives and be in control. Our life now is about Jesus, and it is live for Jesus, in the righteousness of God.

1 Timothy 4:7b-10 Train yourself in godliness, 8 for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” 9 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance.” On this present life we live for God, and it prepares us to the life to come which is the eternal life with the Father in Heaven. Despite the fact that there are trials, sufferings, and temptations in this world, we have hope that Jesus will always help us to keep going from this present life to the life to come.    In verse 10 “For to this end we toil and suffer reproach (nagsisikap tayo at nagpapagal), because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” That is why Jesus is telling us in Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all, “If any wish to come after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. With Jesus in our lives, we find meaning and purpose.  With Jesus we find life.

Conclusion:

There is this lyric of an action song by Chatty Chrissie.

“Without the way, there is no going.

Without the truth there is no knowing.

Without the life there is no living”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The way, the truth, and the life are found in Jesus. Is Jesus living in me and you? Come to Jesus, commit thy spirit to Him, for our life is in His Hand.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God's Call and Our Response

Biblical Reference Mark 1:14-20     In what season of life are you right now? What have you been doing? If someone intervenes to you while you are doing something or you are in such a season of your life, would lend your ear and pay attention?          Read Mark 1:14-20 In the passage that we read, there is a place called Galilee where Jesus went and proclaimed the good news of God, for the time was fulfilled and there is a need to repent and believe in the good news for the Kingdom of God is near. What do you think are the Galileans doing when Jesus was proclaiming? The Galileans are doing their daily routine and their lifestyles and livelihoods. For example, fishing. In verse 16 says, “ Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother casting a net into the sea- for they were fishermen.” What is the relevance of this in our lives?   The message of our devotion today is that Jesus has a call to all the peop...

Sermon: Jesus Christ, the Power and Wisdom of God

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 "As if you know everything." I still remember when I was in junior high school, that was the line of my English teacher every time the class was getting noisy,  and no one was listening to her. Can we assess ourselves if there’s a possibility that we can know everything? Is our knowledge or wisdom enough to help us and save us from all trials of this world? Can we rely on our knowledge or wisdom? Whom knowledge and wisdom do we seek and need? The message of our scripture in 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 is about Jesus Christ the power and wisdom of God.            1. We need the wisdom of God to be saved from the penalty of sin called death.    How can we assess if someone’s wisdom is worth believing?              In this modern world, there is a saying “to see is to believe.” Some might ask for evidence or rational reason to believe. Apostle Paul wrot...
