Sermon- Being a living Testimony for Christ

Text: Matthew 5:16 NRSV

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Theme: Being a living Testimony for Christ

Introduction:

When a child does something either good or bad. The people will ask, who's his/her parents? (Sino kaya ang mga magulang nito?)  Because many people believe in the saying " what a tree is, so its fruit" (kung ano ang puno siya rin ang bunga). In relation to the message of God today, our life brings testimony of what we believe in and who we believe in. As Christians, we have a connection with God and we are God's ambassador in this world.

God became the source of our lives. But how are we carrying the name of the Lord as we continue to live day to day?

Body: Three point- Discussion

----Know that God is the source of light. Just like how a light brings brightness to a dark room, we can let God shine in the world. God is the reason why we are able to do good.

---- Let God shine by doing good. God alone is good.  And with Jesus in our lives, we can connect to the goodness of God. Everything that we do in accordance with God's word and God's will are good. Jesus has set us an example of doing good. He gave us a commandment that we love one another. The good works that we can make are manifestations that Jesus is working in our lives.  When we clothe ourselves with love it binds us together in perfect harmony (Colossians 3:14).

---Glory be to the Father.  Since the source of light and al good is God alone, He is worthy of our praises and honor. We glorify God when we let him shine in our lives before others and do good for His glory. We are God's witnesses and ambassadors. God uses each one of us to magnify His name. And when we allow God's goodness to flow in our lives, the people around us will know and glorify Him.

Conclusion:

My brothers and sister in Christ, through our relationship with Jesus Christ, we believe that we are children of God. We have learned today that as Christians, we are carrying the name of the Lord. Each one of us can be a witness of God's glory. God is the light, the source of light and all good. We do good, because of Him and for Him. By doing good, we are introducing God to other people, and we are glorifying Him. Let us continue to walk in the light of God and let God's light shine before others.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit Amen.

I am now in my senior year and by God’s grace, am in my final year before becoming a full-fledged deaconess. Today, I would love to share my experiences in the last semester and testify to God’s grace and goodness in my life.                 In my third year or junior year, I had a combination of online classes and face-to-face classes. Last February, we had face-to-face classes for the very first time after two and a half years of online classes caused by the pandemic which made me experience the hands-on training of becoming a deaconess as I lived in the dormitory and be appointed at church outside the Harris community. I would like to share that we have tra...

Devotion The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:34-40 NRSV The Greatest Commandment 34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 35 and one of them, an expert in the law, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 37 He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Is it enough to just know? Is it enough to just know the greatest commandment? What is the greatest commandment? We should know the greatest commandment. And we should obey it as the LORD commands. In our text today, the beginning verse started with the Pharisees and the experts of the law gathered together. One of them questioned Jesus about the commandment. This one, who is a law expert, tried to test J...

Sermon -The Family of God

Title: The Family of God Biblical Reference: Luke 15:11-32 Focus Verses on 15: 25-32             Luke 15:11-32 is known about the story of the Good Father and the Prodigal Son, but it is seldom heard in a sermon about the elder son in the story. For a quick background of the story, the father has two sons and the younger son asked his father to give him his inheritance. When the younger son received his inheritance, he decided to go away and spend his wealth to please himself. He experienced struggles being away and lost everything until he realized that he was wrong about his decision and decided to go back to his father, not as his son but as a slave. The father was very happy when he saw his younger son return. Because he was lost and now found. The father’s happiness is not limited to affirmation and forgiveness. The father even made a celebration and welcomed his son without condemnation. However, the reaction of t...
