I Still Believe

Title: I Still Believe
Scripture:
Proverbs 16:1
The plans of the mind belong to mortals, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

Proverbs 16:9
The human mind plans the way,
but the Lord directs the steps.

Hello, how have you been? Kumusta?

Tonight, I unexpectedly watched a movie and its title is I Still Believe. This movie is based on the true story of an American singer and his faithful wife who died of cancer. I can relate to the movie because in the last two months my sister passed away because of her heart and skin disease.

Just like how the married couple in the movie keep their faith in God so as our family, until my sister's last breath, prayed for healing and God's will.

My sister was in great pain. I saw her and it hurt me so much. I prayed to God. I prayed to God to heal my sister, I asked for a miracle. God has extended my sister's life for a week.
But not a single word did she say she's going to die. She said , "laban lang tiwala lang."

When we pray it doesn't mean that it is going to happen the way we want it to be. We can say everything to God, we can tell him all. BUT, the answer is up to God, what He wants and wills.

When the will of God prevails, we need to accept it even when we don't understand it, even when it is a matter of life and death.

God is good, God is faithful, God is true to his words and promises, God has the best plan for all of us.

God gives us life on earth to experience the seasons of life ( in comfort and in pain) and he is always there for us. Life is about experiencing God's greatness in different ways. Death may seem the end but it's the time we can fully be with God through our faith in Jesus Christ.

We can trust God even when we can't see
Even when we can't see, let's still believe. And that's Faith.

"Suffering does not destroy faith, it refines it."
"God is worth trusting even when we can't see.'' (Melissa Henning-Camp)

THE CONFESSION

While I am reading a book title "Leadership That Builds" by Glenn Johnson, on its chapter title "A leader Must Have Integrity", I remember my life verse in Psalm 111:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and all who follow His precepts have good understanding, to Him belongs eternal praise." The book explains that fearing God is trusting Him with confidence, but this may fail when you feel guilty at some point in your life.  The hindrance of our confidence in God is the feeling of guilt. In Nehemiah (Book in the Old Testament), which is the scriptural foundation of the said book, confession is Nehemiah's way on gaining confidence in God. He said in Nehemiah 1:6 " let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for your servants, the Israelites, confessing the sins of the Israelites, which we have sinned against you. Both I and my family have sinned."  ...

Devotion The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:34-40 NRSV The Greatest Commandment 34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 35 and one of them, an expert in the law, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 37 He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Is it enough to just know? Is it enough to just know the greatest commandment? What is the greatest commandment? We should know the greatest commandment. And we should obey it as the LORD commands. In our text today, the beginning verse started with the Pharisees and the experts of the law gathered together. One of them questioned Jesus about the commandment. This one, who is a law expert, tried to test J...

Sermon -The Family of God

Title: The Family of God Biblical Reference: Luke 15:11-32 Focus Verses on 15: 25-32             Luke 15:11-32 is known about the story of the Good Father and the Prodigal Son, but it is seldom heard in a sermon about the elder son in the story. For a quick background of the story, the father has two sons and the younger son asked his father to give him his inheritance. When the younger son received his inheritance, he decided to go away and spend his wealth to please himself. He experienced struggles being away and lost everything until he realized that he was wrong about his decision and decided to go back to his father, not as his son but as a slave. The father was very happy when he saw his younger son return. Because he was lost and now found. The father’s happiness is not limited to affirmation and forgiveness. The father even made a celebration and welcomed his son without condemnation. However, the reaction of t...
